My name is Fabiana, and I am originally from São Paulo, Brazil, where I was born and raised. In Brazil, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and later completed a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Communication. In 1993, I spent approximately six months studying English at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Upon returning to Brazil, I began working as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructor. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion, and within a few months, I had fallen in love with the profession.
I continued teaching English in Brazil until 2014, when I moved to Miami, Florida, to pursue a Master’s degree in Foreign Language Education with a concentration in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Florida International University (FIU). I am currently a student at the University of Virginia, where I am nearing completion of an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in English as a Second Language (ESL).
Since 2014, I have called Miami home. I currently serve as the Director of Special Services at Language On, a private language institution with multiple locations across the United States. In this role, I support academic operations, accreditation processes, and instructor training. I also serve as a Peer Reviewer for the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), a position that requires in-depth knowledge of the CEA Standards, formal training, and the ability to conduct collaborative, standards-based site reviews.
This website showcases selected work from my TESOL Master’s program at Florida International University, as well as my culminating project (EDIS 7812) for the Ed.S. program at the University of Virginia.
